Nikon Zf wireless tethering

Which device are you using?

iPhone 12 mini, iPad Pro

What problem do you see this solving?

Wireless tethering for Timelapse and other night sky photography

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

Camera is backordered so I will need this in the near future

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals?

May have to use the Nikon software.

Hi C1 team. Over 6 months since the camera has been launched but still yet to see support for wired and wireless tethering for the Zf on C1 mobile

May I ask why USB tethering is not good enough for the night sky photography?

Capturing images of the night sky can involve many hours.  It is usual to run the camera and other equipment remotely.  Being limited by a short usb cable is an issue if you do not want the computer  (or the photographer) to be exposed to the elements for extender periods of time.  Capturing a meteor shower, for example, means an extended session of time-lapse images which usually runs unattended.

What are the specific struggles you have when you are facing right now that wireless tethering with your camera is not available?

I have just purchased a Nikon Zf as a replacement for my Z7 (currently on backorder).  The new Zf has WiFi and the same processor as the Z9 and Z8.  So I was hoping to be able to use Capture One tethering to control the camera and import the images directly into a session.  This will certainly simplify the workflow and minimize the equipment exposed to the elements.

The "Unleased '22" from foolography is an option but I would rather not spend extra money for functions that seem to be possible with Capture One.

Thanks for your reply and consideration of this added feature!

Hello 372765315518, thanks for the feedback. I am tagging my colleague 370116698098 who is in charge of our tethering efforts. May I ask why USB tethering is not good enough for the night sky photography? What are the specific struggles you have when you are facing right now that wireless tethering with your camera is not available?

    Thanks a lot!
