AI based mask edge tool

What problem do you see this solving?

Better masking tools/controls for portraits/headshots when you want to adjust the background. The current implementation requires a fair amount of manual mask cleanup of areas of the subject that become part of the mask when selecting the background

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

Every time I use the tool

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

I've tried the magic brush, the AI based tools - all require a fair amount of manual intervention. It would be good to be able to point at the subject and say don't mask here - right now it the AI based masking doesn't seem to recognize the subject itself - even skin tones are getting masked (when selecting the background) so the tool appears to be luminosity based?

Here's an example - several things are going on here - the areas near the collar aren't very defined - this happens virtually every time I have a male subject with a jacket and shirt. Note also the stray masking pixels on the ears, skin, hair.  Here's the file without the background being shown so you can see that the background color is very different from the stray mask areas:

    Hi 367505992698,

Could you share some examples of your images and the masks that are failing? That would be useful for us to see those cases, and it will allow other users to contribute if they have similar issues.

    Thanks,

    Mathieu
