An option to use a modifier key to move two mirrored guides – one in the left and one in the right side / one at the top and one at the bottom – so that both guides would have the same distance to the edge of the image. This would make cropping much easier.

Current workaround
My current workaround is to use the Grid tool, but it requires a lot of increasing and decreasing the number of lines to make them align with the lines in the image I'm cropping, and when the crop is adjusted in one side of the image to bring the grid lines into alignment with the lines in this side of the image, the grid moves out of alignment in the other side of the image, and the number of lines has to be changed again to bring the grid back in to alignment in this side too – and so forth. |
