It would be nice if, inside the preferences dialog, there was a 'Smart Folders' section. Here you could add pre-defined smart folders (name + filters).
Then on the main folder interface, when you click the + icon (for 'User Collections'), these predefined smart folders were available for selection. Clicking it would add the smart folder to the user collections with the already pre-defined filters.
This would allow users to quickly set up their user collections when creating a new catalog. I find the first thing I do is setup some folders I use all the time.

Hi Wayne, thanks for the suggestion - there is currently a workaround, not perfect but it might help you: if you create smart albums in your session and save a "Session Template", anytime you use this template in the future the smart albums will be automatically created.
