I was on a really big production, biggest of my life. Normally I'd use my laptop (Windows) to do Tech work. The photographer felt more comfortable using his machine (Mac).. no problem.
I help them setup the day before the shoot, confirmed everything works, good.
Day of the shoot, they wanted to do some dual/ triple monitor setup. Someone saw the dual monitor workspace and selected that, messed up the photographers custom layout.
Minutes before the celeb walks in I have to be scrambling to make it look/ function as it did the day before.
The issue of changing the workspace was bad enough, but I think you should be able to lock/ unlock a workspace.
And secondly, if you're changing from a custom workspace (cycling through the different options) you should prompt the user to save the workspace.
I checked on windows and it's the same, you have no idea what workspace you're using.
I'd go a step further by saying when you setup a session you should see what workspace is being used.
