Mobile to Desktop Import option and features

Just shot tethered to an iPhone on the Mobile app and shared with Live to the clients in order to have them out of the decor but still able to see what was shot. I needed to be mobile, so a computer-tethered shoot was no option. Worked well, the client could even star rate a preselection.

Some feedback:

  • iPhone to cloud upload was slow despite relying on the wifi

  • Discovered I was limited to 1000 pics, so not all the shoot was uploaded (1200 pics were shot)
problem: shoot cannot be consolidated through cloud into a session

  • Trying to connect iPhone to computer with cable to import into session.
Problem: iPhone is not mounted or seen by COP as an external HD.
Would be a quick and nice way if technically possible.

  • Solution: import the ancient way: memory card import into session. But then:

  • Live problem: the live gallery is generated by the mobile app, linked to an album in it.
How do I retrieve or sync the ratings made by the client to the now consolidated session?

I can se the live collection in the list but can I import their ratings to the pictures I imported in a new session?
    This ability would be nice.
I don't see any fix at this point.

My only purpose is always to consolidate every job into a session, so Mobile allows more freedom of movement but always has to be migrated to a session (for me).

So if the client made a rating through the Live collection, originating from the Mobile app, what is the recommended way to consolidate it into a desktop session?

Current workaround

None, just happend.
I could copy the star rating one-by-one... mmmh no.

Kind of the same, but still different.

Wouldn’t it be possible to use the CO mobile app as a wireless tethering device? So: cable from the camera to the phone. The phone hangs around your neck or sits in your pocket, and it sends the images directly to the Capture One Pro session on the desktop.

I shoot tethered on location five days a week. Art directors, stylists, set builders – everyone’s around the cable. I get about three months out of one cable and always need to carry a backup. And the cables are expensive. A solid wireless option would be perfect.”

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the feedback.

The workflow is indeed far from ideal today, but we are working on it: the mobile apps will support sessions (on internal or external storage) in just a few months. This should help you transfer work from one device to the other much easier.
