The mobile app only uploads images to the cloud, when it is open and active. Meaning you can't use the phone for anything else, if you want to upload the images. On top of that the upload is slow and the text "processing XX%" hangs forever at something less than 100.
The upload should work in the background just like Apple Photos or Light Room
