Feature Request: Ranged and Advanced Filtering for Photo Management

For some existing filters such as focal length the current interface presents a long list of individual values. This is not practical when you want to filter all images taken within a continuous range for example between 30 mm and 50 mm. Replacing the list with a slider that lets you set a minimum and maximum value would be far more intuitive and efficient.

For more complex queries allow users to define multiple ranges simultaneously. For example you could filter for images with focal lengths between 10 mm and 20 mm plus those between 100 mm and 200 mm. To support these multi-range filters provide controls to add or remove ranges and to combine them with boolean operators such as AND OR XOR and NOT. This system would extend naturally to other metadata fields including ratings date ISO and any numeric or ordered attribute.

Introducing range-based filtering also makes it feasible to add a new Time of Day filter. By using a time slider users could quickly locate every photo shot in the evening for example between 18:00 and 20:00 across their entire library. This capability is currently missing but becomes straightforward once range filtering is implemented.

To maximize workflow efficiency users should be able to save these advanced filter configurations as presets or Smart Album rules. Although saving presets might be addressed in a later phase including it in the initial design ensures the filtering system’s full potential is realized.

Current workaround

there is no functional workaround.
