Advanced Color Editor Needs Layers

We use Advanced Color Editor extensively. We would like to be able to use masking first in a layer, and then have the advanced color editor be constrained to the masked layer. When adjusting colors for art reproduction photography of paintings, we need this level of detail and the ability to limit the effect on similar color ranges to the colors in the area of the painting that we want. imagine that greens are everywhere, but we need to affect the greens on the subject rather than the similar greens on the background.
