Option to use original capture date as "date created" of file

A very frustrating part of exporting using CaptureOne is its inability to carry over the original capture date to the exported file, be it a PNG, JPEG or other. Both the creation date and modification date of a file is set as the export time from CaptureOne.

Please add a feature to export using original capture time of the raw file.

Current workaround

Download the exiftool package to edit the metadata of the exported file. Place both the JPEG and RAW files in the same directory and run your terminal prompt in this directory.

Use the following :

your_export_directory_here % exiftool "-DateTimeOriginal>FileCreateDate" -ext jpg -r .

    This is a MacOS issue. It can be corrected easily using exiftool. When I copy or import photos from SD cards to other storage media the creation and modification dates are often set to the time the computer's OS sets the file system info. On MacOS I routinely use exiftool to reset these values. You have to be comfortable using Terminal and a command line interface, though. For example, the following command will fix all the .JPG files. Just replace .JPG with .DNG or .NEF etc to limit application to a specific file format. If you are feeling really courageous you can apply such a command recursively to all subfolders on an external drive - this worked for me yesterday for fixing times on 15000+ photos on a backup SSD. But go carefully and back up a sample of files and test the command on the sample to make sure you're happy with the results.

    exiftool -overwrite_original_in_place "-FileCreateDate<CreateDate" "-FileModifyDate<CreateDate" *.JPG
