Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
Backups for catalogs go in a folder named for the catalog. Under there we get subfolders by date/time.
... / Backups / Masters / 2025-08-08 13.34.51
... / Backups / Masters / 2025-09-19 15.27.25
Add the three-part version number to the folder path allows a user would know which version of Capture One created a backup and thus what version of Capture One will be able to restore it.
... / Backups / Masters / 16.6.6 / 2025-08-08 13.34.51
... / Backups / Masters / 16.7.0 / 2025-09-19 15.27.25
Alpha and Beta releases could add that to their version name.
... / Backups / Masters / 16.7.0 Alpha / 2025-09-19 15.27.25
This would let Alpha and beta testers easily identify the last stable version backup prior to upgrading to an alpha or beta release.

Current workaround
Manually create version folders and drag backups into them after each backup. |
Nice idea and I upvote it too, but let's keep in mind that is never good to update your main catalog/session to work on a beta or alpha version. Prefer to always create a new session/catalogue for testing.
Under Preference>>General, add Naming pattern options as dropdown list to Catalog backup section.
If the version number is added into the the existing filename (instead of a new layer of folder hierarchy), then this change might not break existing backup management scripts that work off the current folder structure.
