I use the rating system to organize my images during a tethered shoot on my iPad. I rate images as 3-stars for any I like, 4-stars for absolute favorites, and ultimately 5-stars for any client-approved final images. It’s simple, and it works. However, I would love to have the ability to set up a smart album within a Session or Catalog.
Ideally, smart albums could automatically pull in any images rated 3 or above, and allow me to share that album via Capture One Live (which I love, and has become crucial to my workflow). Most clients don’t care to see all of the shots, so I end up doing this part manually after the shoot is over.

Current workaround
During the shoot, I typically tap on the filter icon, then tap on each of the star ratings (3, 4, and 5) to show all the top shots of the day, then tap the clear all button to dismiss when done reviewing. This always feels clunky when the client comes over to quickly review the last few few sets of images. Once the shoot is over, I then create a new Selects album, manually add those rated images, and then share via Live. |
I have a similar issue but when sending images for rating to a client. There might be different person involved in the selection and validation process. While the person selecting may want to see all images, the one validating may want to see only the selected images. A smart album would be of great help. Not only for us to create and share a smart album, to add a smart album in a currently running live session but also for the client to be able to create smart albums based on their filtering. This is especially true when sharing multiple albums/folders in sessions.
Otherwise, we have to create a new session based on an album and we lose all current comments.
