Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
In the new beta, you can add, subtract, or intersect new predefined layers such as subject, background, people, brush, AI selection, etc. But it would be key to also be able to do the same with already existing layers or user-created ones.
Here’s an example: after retouching the subject and manually adjusting the mask because the AI didn’t define it well (it would be great to improve its accuracy in future updates), you want to retouch an element in the background. You could make the selection and then subtract the subject or any other object that has already been precisely masked. This would be really useful to avoid having to repeat the masking process for something already done before.
*Bonus: if they were updated in real time, they could work like variables do in Figma (when the parent element is updated, the child elements update as well). That is, when you edit the mask of one layer and that mask is also being subtracted from another, it would update simultaneously.

Current workaround
Currently, I create a new layer, copy the mask from the subject (for example), invert the mask, and then retouch it until I get the desired mask shape. If there were any error in the first mask (the subject), I would need to retouch both layers again. |
Came here to ask the same thing - I wanted to combine two existing parts masks I'd already edited into a single mask and found that I could not. Suspect it might be coming soon, given the mask intersection that we do have is fresh out of the oven!
