To the Combine Mask options list, add "Use Mask From" option as shown in the mockup. When the option is chosen, list of Layers dialog to pop up (refer mockup) like People Combine Mask list dialog. The user can choose a layer from the list, if allowed to select multiple, it will be fantastic; I know it is complex

Current workaround
|
I find myself using this workaround a lot. For example, a wildlife "bird on stick" shot...
Create layer for bird
Create layer for stick
Create filled Background layer:
Subtract Brush Mask
Copy mask from layer bird
Subtract Brush Mask
Copy mask from layer stick
Similarly, if I now want to apply a brush to part of the bird layer (and only the bird):
Create layer by selecting and then applying brush:
Intersect Brush Mask
Copy mask from layer bird
Being able to add/subtract/intersect from layer would cut out the copy from layer operation.
Also, the ability to rename masks would be really useful or, I guess, in this scenario using the selected layer name would be a good default.
