Round Tripping Files

When I choose to edit a file outside of CaptureOne (like in Photoshop or Nik software), CaptureOne creates a variant (second file). When I Save the file from Photoshop (or other software), the file in my terminology, completes it round trip--it is now in CaptureOne. But when I go to work on the file, the original file is highlighted rather than the new one. I want to add Metadata to the new one, or I want to make some additional changes in CaptureOne. Reflexively, I just start making changes, but they are being made to the original file, not the altered version. Instead of highlighting (selecting) the original file following a roundtrip, could you select the adjusted file? Thank you.
