Change in camera and lens support policy for perpetual licenses

It is a reality that perpetual license holders virtually receive no update support after purchase, and I understand this. However, the lack of support even for camera and lens compatibility negatively impacts both the consumers and Capture One.

It is unfortunate when a RAW editing program cannot open RAW files. I wanted to purchase the latest perpetual license version of Capture One, but I gave up. This is because, even if I purchase the latest perpetual license version of Capture One now, I will have to buy Capture One all over again when I purchase a new camera (for example, the Sony a7V, which will be announced next month).

I dislike the subscription economy. Even if the world is moving toward a subscription model, there will always be those who wish to resist it and remain independent. For these people, the Capture One perpetual license is a beacon of hope. However, that hope is hindered by a hefty price tag and a harsh update policy.

I believe that a change in the update policy for Capture One's perpetual license is necessary. I do not even ask for functional updates. However, camera and lens compatibility updates are essential. For instance, how about a policy that supports camera and lens compatibility updates for a minimum of three years for perpetual license purchasers? (My personal wish is for five years or even lifetime support.)

Thank you. I sincerely hope for the success and improvement of Capture One.

Current workaround

I currently convert RAW files to DNG format using a third-party program. Only then can Capture One recognize them.
