Improving Live for Studio by allowing it to connect to an additional computer

Copy of Email exchange with Helen of Capture One Support who suggested I should share it with the development team.

Idea: to allow another computer (Mac or Windows) with all C1 functionality (or at least most of them) to be connected to the main computer driving the session (ie the same way iPad can be connected now but with access to the RAW files and additional functionality)

Helen,

Thanks for getting back to me. I know I can have an additional iPad but the functionality is very limited. It’s useful to get Art Directors and hangers on out of the way of the photographers and digis but not really good enough to do some serious work during the shoot. I know digis who are offering the service to wire the whole thing so you can set it up with another Mac or PC but it’s complicated and expensive (and not feasible for every shoot/client).

It would be awesome if Live for Studio could do it. The key is to provide the RAW files so we can check how far we can push the files at either end (highlights and shadows), check critical focus, use the retouching tool, do overlays, etc. To keep it simple you could do it so the second Mac would only be able to receive the RAW files and not send back adjustments, etc. The ultimate, of course, would be to be able to select which adjustments (eg tagging, colour grading, etc) you could send back! Food for thought for your development team!

I am sure you know, but a feature as I describe would be so popular with so many professional photographers - that’s the one thing we all wish we could have! Don’t get me wrong my current set up (main session/monitor controlled by digi, additional monitor by my side and iPad for art director/etc) is a great improvement from previous version but you would be super popular with the pros (and get way ahead of the competition) with what I am suggesting.

Kind regards,

Erik

Current workaround

There is one but see above for my current set up.
