Crop tool is quite basic, but it is probably one of the most used by many users. Several ideas already suggested improvements, but here is one I have not seen in other posts :
Toggling between standard or user-defined ratios is tedious. If I experiment to decide which ratio fits best for a particular picture, I need to try successively all of them - or to switch to "free" and afterwards find the closest standard ratio.
I would like the option to use the crop tool like a magnetic grid on Powerpoint or Canva: in grid mode, the cropping shape would toggle between all registered crop ratios by pulling on the edges.

Current workaround
Trial and error : I apply crop with a fixed ratio, for example 4:5, then switch to 1:1 or 3:4 depending on the picture. Or I toggle between various panoramic ratios. Or I use free crop, but I prefer all my pictures in a set to fit in no more than 4 or 5 different ratios. |
