Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
Image files can take up a lot of space on a laptop. To work around this, there is a Dropbox feature called "Online-only" that preserves the name of the file and the file type but puts the contents of it in Dropbox servers. Retrieval is easy: mark the file as "Make available offline" and it is sync'ed.
Capture One Desktop for Mac (newest version, and many preceding versions) doesn't interact well with that feature. Instead of preserving the preview and marking the file as "offline" or similar, C1 wipes all the previews at the level of the image browser. When I enter the detail view, a low-resolution preview remains.
It would be great if C1 could not wipe the previews, and enable me to reach my photos from anywhere. I'm fine with previews taking up space on my hard drive. Ideally, C1 would integrate with Dropbox's API, allowing images to be sync'ed from inside C1.
The attached screenshot shows how this looks at the image browser level.

Current workaround
There is no workaround for this at the moment. Wiping previews of image files stored in Dropbox as online-only, makes C1 very difficult to use from an archival point of view. Competing tools do not have this issue. |
