AI-assisted skin tone normalization

For high-volume fashion and e-commerce workflows, I would love an AI-powered skin tone normalization tool.

The workflow could begin with Capture One’s existing AI skin masking technology, automatically detecting and masking all visible skin. The user could then choose from a library of natural skin tone presets, or sample a reference skin tone from a selected image.

Capture One would then intelligently map all detected skin tones to the chosen target tone while preserving natural variations in highlights, midtones and shadows. Rather than applying a flat color correction, the tool would create a natural tonal and color transition across the skin, similar to an intelligent color grading or gradient mapping process designed specifically for skin.

This would be especially valuable in e-commerce workflows where skin tones often shift throughout a shoot due to changing lighting conditions, distance from the light source, negative fill, reflected colors from garments, or small white balance variations. While the current Color Editor > Skin Tone tool is already powerful, maintaining perfectly consistent skin tones across hundreds or thousands of images still requires significant manual adjustment.

An AI-assisted skin tone matching tool could automatically ensure that every image maintains the same natural skin appearance throughout an entire shoot, regardless of environmental color contamination or lighting variations. This would dramatically improve consistency, reduce retouching time, and provide a much more efficient workflow for high-volume productions.
