I shoot RAW+JPEG (Sony a6400) and keep the files in separate subfolders on disk, e.g.
Trip\ARW\DSC02479.ARW
Trip\JPEG\DSC02479.JPG
Base names are identical. The catalog references about 5,300 such pairs.
Problem: Capture One treats the RAW and the JPEG as two unrelated images. A color tag or
rating set on one never appears on the other. Image > Sync Metadata writes each image's own
sidecar (ARW\DSC02479.xmp and JPEG\DSC02479.xmp), so the two never meet. "Pair RAWs and JPGs"
only affects file naming at import, and the documented shared-XMP workflow only works when
both files sit in the same folder.
Last affected: September 2026. I color-tagged 36 of 87 RAWs from one day, synced metadata,
and every matching JPEG still had no tag.
Request: a way to link a RAW and a JPEG with the same base name regardless of folder (an
import option and/or an "Link RAW+JPEG pairs" command for already-imported images), so that:
ratings, color tags and keywords applied to one are applied to its pair
Sync / Load Metadata keeps both sidecars consistent
