Love the foundation. Please keep building for landscape and nature photographers too.

I started in Apple's Aperture, moved to Lightroom when Apple stopped, and left Lightroom years ago because it wasn't ready. Capture One became home because of the interface, the RAW color rendering, and the freedom to work the way I see.

That love for C1 is exactly why I'm writing. Over the last year, Lightroom has advanced quickly for outdoor photographers, with features and functions that Capture One doesn't have, and it feels like the C1 roadmap leans squarely towards studio and fashion photographers. I'd rather name the gaps than leave C1.

Six stand out.

1. Denoise is excellent but one file at a time, so a thirty-shot panorama means thirty separate passes, while Lightroom denoises the assembled panorama in one step or batches thirty files at once.

2. Transform scaling lets me resize without cropping away resolution, whereas every crop in Capture One drops pixels.

3. Depth range masking is arriving in Lightroom and is currently available in Adobe Camera Raw and isn't offered here.

4. Mask edge feathering in Lightroom is refined in ways that make selections feel natural.

5. Edge masking for sharpening.

6. HDR Panoramas

None of this is a request to imitate Adobe. It's what keeps a landscape and nature workflow from drifting away from Capture One. Please stay current with the necessary tools and trends for nature photographers. Thank you for listening.

Current workaround

I find I'm taking certain files to either Lightroom Classic or Adobe Camera Raw to get the precision adjustments and workflow freedom I need.
