Staged culling

I wish to perform the culling in several stages.

I typically cover events and concerts. This brings me several hundred or even a thousand photographs per event. The delivery might ideally be 50 images.

In order to reduce the workload for processing I typically make a rough selection of the photos that I consider "ok" by using the culling function. This reduces the number a lot, mostly thanks to the grouping function. But yet, often I have several photos of the same scene, but with slight differences, which I find difficult to sort out in the first round.

Then I would like to perform a second round of culling (or a second selection) for the images that I consider worth processing. This second round is currently not supported by the culling function, hence my feature request for staged culling.

However, I might even perform a third round in which I select the images that I want to deliver. Ideally I only process these images.

This procedure would allow me to reduce 1000 images to 50.

Current workaround

Currently I am using the culling function and the grouping function. I select the "ok" images and give them a star rating.

Then I close the culling and move the star rated images from the capture folder to the selection folder.

There I go through the whole list one more time and select the best images by giving them a higher star rating.

After this I filter the list for the highest star rating and process the found images.

However, going through a list of images is different than the culling function. In the list I see one image after the other. There is no grouping of similar images that would allow me to choose one image from that particular scene by having all the similar ones together for easy comparison.

As a result I process way too many images which takes too long and leads to endless night shifts. Because of that I would wish to have more/better tools for culling or selecting which images to process.
