Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
Posting this here to get more votes/movement on this issue from the community. I have sent detailed examples and confirmed the findings with Capture One support however this has still not been addressed:
Hello, I work with Anamorphic images a lot and have noticed something subtle but incorrect. When I've applied a non square aspect to an image, if I try to rotate the image with the crop tool, it seems like it's applying the stretch after rotation? Can you please confirm the order in which Capture One applies those settings?
To do this correctly, I believe the aspect would need to be applied first, to the original image, then the rotation would need to be applied after.
This also causes issues with your crop tool since it is not aware of the new aspect. After applying an aspect, you need to switch the crop aspect ratio to "unconstrained" or use a preset rather than using "original". This means de-squeezing an anamorphic image is two steps: set the aspect in keystone settings, then change the crop aspect and manually un-crop the de-squeezed image.
This would be much easier if you simply had an aspect ratio setting for the entire image, which all other tools worked on top of (or after it's applied).
I am very happy that you have an aspect setting now but I do believe this workflow still needs a fair bit of improvement. It still takes multiple settings to work easily with anamorphic images.

Current workaround
The unfortunate workaround is to setup presets for both the Crop Aspect Ratio and the Keystone. Then do all your edits, "bake in" the desqueeze by exporting an image, then do the final rotation/crop (operating now on square pixels) and re-export. You cannot rotate the anamorphic image prior to exporting or it will distort incorrectly. |
This to me should actually be treated as a bug and addressed rather than a feature request as the software is producing incorrect results.
