Keep the primary selected thumbnail at a fixed position in the Browser

Hi Capture One team,

I’d like to request an option to keep the primary selected thumbnail at a fixed position in the Browser as I navigate through images.

Currently, the selected thumbnail can move toward the edge of the visible filmstrip before the Browser scrolls. Keeping it centered would make it easier to see upcoming images and compare alternatives when culling sequences.

Ideally, a Browser toolbar control would offer four modes:

  • Off: Current scrolling behavior.

  • Left: Keep the selected thumbnail at the left, showing more upcoming images.

  • Center: Keep it centered, showing previous and upcoming images.

  • Right: Keep it at the right, showing more previous images.

Clicking the button could toggle anchoring, while a dropdown or long press could select the position. A keyboard shortcut would also be useful. Positioning could naturally stop at the beginning or end of a collection.

I explored implementing this as a plugin using the macOS Plugin SDK v1.0.1, but couldn’t find public APIs for Browser scroll positioning, selection-change notifications, or adding a Browser toolbar control. The AppleScript Browser settings also appear to lack selection anchoring.

Would you consider either building this into Capture One or exposing the necessary APIs so third-party developers can implement it?

I’ve attached a mockup showing the proposed control and centered selection.

Thank you for considering it.
