Speed up editing with faster cropping options

What problem do you see this solving?

Flipping between constrained and unconstrained crop mode whilst finding crops can be sped up by having dedicated keyboard button/s that would release a crop ratio to make custom cropping faster when there are the odd images that need specific crops outside of the locked ratio.

I also thought of an additional feature but it's a bit more complicated... The ability to load two crop ratios and depending on how you stretch the mouse, it would magnetically jump to the nearest crop. So for example, if One of my crop selections is 4:5 and I pull out the crop to this pallpark shape, it would snap to that ratio and a small confirmation 4:5 would be visible on the edge of the crop, just like the pixel measurements (this would display whatever the crop name had been saved to.

Then if I pulled the crop towards the direction higher and slimmer, it would know that i'm trying to create my other project crop and this would be for example 16:9, and it would lock to that ratio with it displaying the confirmation on the edge as before.

This is helpful when there are two set crops needed in a shoot. Portrait and landscape. As often I'm having to make crops for single page imagery and double page spread (DPS) and it's always fiddly/annoying to have to change these crop settings each time I'm imagining an image with either composition.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

Every single editing session that I make from my shoot runs into this problem of having to manually right click, change to crop to unconstrained so I can make a longer length crop for a specific image that needs that, before right clicking again to select my constrained crop (4:5 which is my regular custom aspect ratio), before moving on to the next image. In an average shoot of about 1000 images, I'm performing this over 100 times to optimise full length and portrait crops.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

I can't see a workaround to this. It just zaps time. If I could just hold down a key and then it temporarily releases the crop so I can crop in freestyle mode, then when I release the key Capture One would make any future crop in the ratio that it is set to, it would save me so much time.

    Hi 383088711218,

While this is not exactly what you are asking, you are able to set a shortcut for any crop aspect ratio, including "unconstrainted". This should help you quickly switch between your two or three favourite aspect ratios for working.
