Request for Adding a Vectorscope for Color Reading

Dear Capture One Development Team,

I am writing to express my appreciation for your high-quality photo editing software, Capture One. As a professional photographer, I have been using your software to enhance and optimize my images significantly.

However, I would like to submit a request for the addition of a new feature that I believe would be extremely beneficial for photographers like myself: the inclusion of a vectorscope for color reading in Capture One.

A vectorscope is an essential tool for image professionals as it visually displays color values present in an image, aiding in identifying and correcting any chromatic imbalances. This tool is of paramount importance in video color grading softwares and would be super helpful to have it in Capture One.

The following are some reasons why I believe adding a vectorscope would be advantageous for Capture One:

  1. Color Precision: A vectorscope provides a visual representation of colors present in the image, enabling more precise control over white balance, hue, and color saturation corrections.

  2. Time-Saving: With the vectorscope integrated directly into Capture One, photographers can perform color corrections more efficiently, without relying on external tools or additional plugins.

  3. Enhanced Creativity: The ability to accurately evaluate image colors allows for experimentation and creative results without worrying about color inconsistencies.

  4. Integrated Workflow: Having access to the vectorscope within the Capture One interface would streamline the workflow, eliminating the need to switch between different applications or windows during the editing process.

I am confident that implementing this feature would be appreciated by many Capture One users, both amateurs and professionals. It would further solidify Capture One's position as one of the most comprehensive and cutting-edge photo editing software on the market.

I thank the Capture One development team for considering this request. I sincerely hope that you will take the addition of a vectorscope into account for the next version of the software. I believe this new feature would greatly enrich the editing experience for your users.

Please feel free to reach out if you require any further clarification or information regarding this matter.

Best regards,

Luca Visciani

I like the vectorscope idea. An easier solution would be to see histograms be interchangeable with the smaller preview images in the grid view so i can see easily which photos are exposed differently. I am a cartographer that processes thousands of images at a time and this would same me lots and lots of time.

+22 :) I’m video colorist and LOVE Capture One but this is the only thing I feel missing from being able to do my best work efficiently. The histogram is very helpful, but being able to switch it over to a vector scope would allow me to nail the right color, skin tones, and overall saturation, especially for product shots that have to match exact color for products.

    Fully agree.

Yes. And if you want to see during your research how other raw converters have implemented it (aside video editors), to either get ideas or to even out-perform it, have a look at darktable.
