The JPEG is a processed file, so it will certainly look different to the RAW file.

The "Generic" profile is made by us, specifically for that camera, so it's not a generic color profile as such. If you want your images to look like the JPEG below upon import, I recommend using some presets/styles so that your images are satisfying to look at right away.

You can also go to View > Proof Profile and ensure that you're using "Selected recipe" so that you get a clear understanding of how your image will look upon export. If you use Recipe Proofing, then you will be able to see different output profiles without needing to export images.

Thanks for your answer Jack. Both the Generic and the ProStandard are quire different from Canon's own Camera Standard, so the generic profile is not an option for me :/

The top picture is Capture One's generic profile. The bottom is the JPEG from the camera. As you can see there's quite a difference in saturation in the sky. There's also some extra contrast in the body of the seagull.

The RAW is more than usable, of course :), and I can get close enough to that result using the tools... but it would be nice if I could save that extra step.

You should still be able to select the "Generic" color profile from the Base Characteristics tool. You can set this as default by going to "..." and selecting "Save as default"
