The basis of camera support is the creation of one (or more) ICC profiles for colour interpretation and a few other adjustments that are likely consistent for certain camera settings.
My use of Epson scanners suggests that scanners, in general, are not necessarily going to produce totally consistent scans for every image, no matter what file format one decided to create from them.
Is it possible that the Nikon approach is indeed more camera-like in terms of a sensor allowing preset profile values to be used?
