I find the lack of synchronization between iPad and iPhone to be problematic and in opposition to the whole cloud protocol. It seems to me that the concept of the cloud means that images are available on all devices. Perhaps I captured images on my iPhone in the field and wish to do some editing on my iPod I in the motel or on the plane going home. I find the lack of this capability to be a negative when compared, for example, to Adobe’s approach.
I’m considering a full move away from Lightroom for both my Desktop and Mobile use.
Capture One Cloud is currently not a serviceable solution in any way. It is less a “Cloud” and more just a different way to achieve one-way export from iPhone or iPad to Desktop. It results in duplicated images on Desktop, with no link back to the Mobile versions.
For Cloud to be useful, it should (I’m sorry to say) follow the Lightroom approach. Images stored in Capture One Cloud should be accessible from all devices, Desktop and Mobile, and edits should sync across all devices without user input. Capture One Pro desktop should have a dedicated “Cloud” folder, separate from Sessions and Catalog. Images should be editable directly from this folder, and sync edits back for viewing and subsequent work on any device. “Import” to a local file system folder should be optional (if desired).
This is the only way a “Cloud” can be expected to behave in 2024.
