transfer iPad session to Mac using SD card and cloud sync simultaneously

It would be great to have the ability to sync only the iPad capture session “metadata” to the cloud. Then, once that session is on the Mac, it can retrieve the raw photos from the SD card and combine them with the files connected with the correct settings and ratings from the session on my Mac. This would significantly speed up daily processes, as you would not need to transfer huge files over the cloud, only the session information.

Current workaround

I choose the most important photos on the iPad and export these as EIP files. Then, I send them over Airdrop to my Mac and import them manually into the new session. After that, I import the rest of the photos from the memory card to my computer.

This is doable, but it takes up a lot of time and slows down my daily workflow. It actually slows down so much that usually I just manually import all the raw files from the SD card and start editing and rating from zero.
