Crop shortcut should toggle crop tool on and off

What problem do you see this solving?

I hit C (actually, my BetterTouchTool trackpad gesture shortcut) to enter crop, but then I have to hit Enter to exit it. In Lightroom, I can use my custom trackpad gesture (3-finger tap) to both enter and exit crop mode. This way I can go through a series of photos, cropping them without ever touching the keyboard.

As it is now, I can set my gesture to enter crop, but then I have to use the keyboard to exit crop with the Enter key (and if I decided not to adjust crop, it seems I have to click in the photo before Enter even works to exit Crop - why?)

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

Every time I use the crop tool.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

Haven't found any way of doing it as elegantly as LR - I could make yet another gesture shortcut for Enter, but I use a lot of gestures already.

Thanks Ian, I didn't realize that, and it's convenient, and I'll definitely use that. That part of it is better than LR, which requires a 2-stroke shortcut to advance during crop mode.

Though my suggestion remains - C does nothing once you're in Crop mode, and you still have to reach over to hit Enter. (Sounds trivial, but I've made a lot of custom gestures so I can do a lot with only trackpad custom gestures, and rarely touching the keyboard.) So having C both enter and exit Crop seems logical and efficient.

But surely you can go through a series of photos anyway. If you activate the crop tool (by hitting C or whatever your shortcut is) you don't need to do anything to confirm or commit the crop on that photo before you move on to the next image. So you can

    • Hit C
    • Adjust the crop on Photo 1 (or leave it unadjusted if you prefer) then without hitting enter, or exiting the crop tool...
    • ... move on to Photo 2 - the crop tool will be still active, and you can use it on Photo 2
    • Move on to Photo 3...

and so on, until you have finished cropping and want to do something else.
