It would be so much simpler to have a single key that toggled back and forth from zoomed to 100% and zoomed to Fit.
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
I'm affected many times a day.

I want to add that not only have you all helped me articulate these interface annoyances I'd love to see fixed, but also offered a lot of great suggestions. So thanks to everyone who responded.
That sounds perfect. A simple keystroke toggle to 100% and back to fit, and zoom to the mouse pointer or to the center.
I've been told many times that the Wacom would be a great addition, especially in Photoshop, which is pretty much where I've. Maybe it's time.
A simple keystroke to toggle Fit vs. 100% should be customizable, and I'd prefer to zoom in where your mouse pointer is, if it is over the image area, and to center, if the mouse is somewhere else. If you agree can you put this in the request?
Yeah the medium Wacom is great to work with, though I cannot use the keys or the wheel, but the pen, sometimes alone but even in combination with a mouse in my weak hand for the buttons (not for mouse pointer movement), has become my preferred way to work in C1 and even all other applications.

Yes, the dual monitor large viewer workspace. But I actively dislike the loupe. I want the whole image, and I can move to the Viewer window if I need to scroll around...

368866535958, is that correct? If so, I use this workspace as well. I use my arrow keys to navigate through the browser and either a pen or trackpad to move the loupe. You don't have to actually click on the Viewer window, just mouse over the area you want to magnify then hit Option/Space. Release when you're done and hop back on the arrow keys to continue moving around. I have a keyboard shortcut set for red/green color tags. Left hands works the arrow keys, red/green tag (mapped to Command+/ and Option+/), and option/space. Everything is right there bottom right of the keyboard. Right hand moves the loupe as necessary. It's not unusual for me to work with groups of 1000+ images. This seems to work pretty well. I've also got all this mapped to shortcut keys on a Wacom and it works super well and is very fast but I too often am working away from my desk and it doesn't travel with me. I revert to a single screen workspace and the keyboard. Over coffee, I'd strongly suggest you take a look at the Wacom. Find a really big retailer named after a river and order one. Generous return policy if it doesn't work out for you. If you do, get the medium Wacom at least. Better shortcut keys.
I'm struggling to understand. If your screen layout is something like this...
... why do you need to click anywhere before you can zoom the image? I just hit the keyboard shortcut, which is . (period) to zoom to 100% and Cmd-0 to zoom out again.
(Of course, if you want to use the loupe tool, you do need to use the mouse or trackpad to move it around the image. And if you are zoomed in to 100%, you can instead move a navigator box around by right-clicking or two-finger tap on a trackpad, though again that requires mouse or trackpad.)
Perhaps we are not quite understanding what you are trying to get it to do.

Yeah, that makes sense, for sure. Best of luck with all of your feature requests from today! Hopefully you'll get some up-votes. I'll upvote this one as it seems like a good idea to me. Not that my upvote matters :-). While I don't have issues toggling in and out with the two keys, per se, you're right that one "z" key can make things that bit easier.
Are you using the newish Cull window? Historically, I've used a 3rd party for culling then I import a mostly filtered group selection of photos into Capture One. Since Cull debuted, I have more or less abandoned the 3rd party. It gives me eye focus for that higher level yea/nay and I use the Option/Space loupe (thanks for that, the word escaped me!) to check anything else that might need a quick look before tagging keep or reject. Of course and unfortunately, Cull eye focus only helps if you're shooting people.
I guess it's important to point out that yesterday, a single import into Capture One was between 500 and 600 images. Going through and reviewing them, I can use every simplification possible. A slight annoyance repeated a hundred times is extremely annoying.

If you just ‘pop in and out’ without indicating where, would you have Capture One zoom to always center frame? I don’t see that being consistently useful.
Try Option/Space (I checked, that’s the combo). Hold both keys and point wherever. Instant 100%.
When I'm star rating in the Browser window, I can't zoom the Viewer window until I click on that window. And then click the Browser window to go back to browsing.
And the dragging around -- I was referring to the Option-Spacebar loupe.
I'm curious where the mouse comes into play in your workflow for zooming in/out and deleting. Where does dragging come into play? Moving around the 100% view of the image?
I'd really love to just pop in and out of 100% as I'm quickly browsing (and deleting some) new thumbnails, rather than reach for the mouse and drag it around.
Other apps seem to have that capability. Lightroom, for one: Tap and hold Z to zoom to 100%, release to return to the original scale. If I remember right, Aperture did something similar.
Why not use the Option/Space (maybe Control/Space, I’m not at my desk and it’s more muscle memory)? That gives you a 100% magnifier anywhere you point your mouse as long as you hold the keys.
