Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
What problem do you see this solving?
The Pro Standard offers a much higher performance when seen on my Leica M11 compared to the Generic profile. I'm using a Leica Q2 in tandem with the M11 for several projects. I'd like the photographs to be indistinguishable from each camera. Using the generic profile for both will see a lower image quality. The Leica Q2 has been a popular camera and there must be a great many C1 users who would benefit from carrying out the profiling. That the Q3 has been given Pro Standard indicates that the Q2 was an oversight and it's probably not a huge amount of work to implement.
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
It affects the quality of every Leica Q2 image in my projects.
Current workaround
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One? I've tried altering curves by amending the red channel to get the images looking closer. The top right point moved to 244 255 gets it in right ball park, but there is still a marked difference between the two cameras. I've also tried using the recently added Q3 lens profile as it hadn't been available previously. |
Thanks for your responses. I've tried the SL2 ProStandard and it does seem to work, albeit some images better than others.
Meanwhile I've managed to get M11 and Q2 files looking pretty similar, by reduction of magenta tint in WB for M11 and the Q2 custom curve mentioned above reducing the greenish hue I feel Q2 files offer.
I've given up on C1 offering the ProStandard support for Q2 despite its reputation still continuing to grow. Furthermore I'm intending to stick with Perpetual licence version of V23, so wouldn't get any update even if C1 produced it.
Baxter,
When the ProStandard revised profiles were introduced I think it is safe to say that the new approach was taken for all new cameras and that some existing cameras were re-assessed and the ProStandard profile were created and made available.
The indication at the time was that C1 provided profiles would be developed for "legacy" cameras that would benefit from them and where the known usage of those cameras was high enough to justify the work for producing the profile.
I would guess that happened since additional ProStandard profiles were released for some cameras after the announcement and the original batch.
Perhaps the Q2 slipped through the net OR the level of actual shooting use detected was not deemed enough to suggest that any ProStandard benefit evaluation would be likely to be justified.
Marvin's plan B sound like a possibility. Or further tweaking of your own efforts and saving a profile for future use, starting with either the Q2 generic or the SL2 profile.
Supposedly the Q2 has the same sensor as the SL2. You can choose the Leica SL2 ProStandard ICC in the base characteristics tool and set it as default for the Q2 files. I do that for a few weeks now and the files look better all the time.
Obviously that’s not the intended way to go, but I have not seen any side effects in form of color glitches or something.
