What problem do you see this solving?
It's been a long time since Capture Pilot didnt get updates but it's very useful and handy which can not be replaced easily. Capture Pilot is an ideal app that clients can view and move images around while it does not bother the main computer. Yes, you can connect external monitors but they require cables OR expensive wireless video transmitter. Still, they dont allow clients to control images that we shot because it only shows. Also, since Capture Pilot did not get updates regularly, it's very unstable and crash a lot. But I have no choices because there is no alternative solution other than Capture Pilot. I got an email from C1P but they have NO plans to update it which is quite shameful.
Dont you ever think that Capture Live can replace it cause it wont. Capture Live requires an internet connection which is not ideal for most of works especially for outdoor or on location, no way to control the camera directly, and more. Beside, the service quality is extremely poor and lack so many features despite a lot of feedbacks so I have no reasons to use it.
I keep asking improvements for Capture Pilot for a while and now it's time to answer my question: Are you willing to update Capture Pilot or not?
Improvements suggestions
- DO NOT KILL CAPTURE PILOT, MAKE IT BETTER INSTEAD. Like I said, there is no alternative solution to replace Capture Pilot.
- Add a function to connect between Mac and iPad without wifi. There is a complicated way to connect between Mac and iPad but why not make it simple or built in app? If the connection is the issue, then allow wireless video connection to do it. Accsoon already have an app which can allow to connect between Mac and iPad via their own transmitter. Also, whenever we shoot outside or without wifi, there is no way to use an app so it would be nice if the app itself connect to Mac automatically.
- Allow to see all folders within Capture Folder. Whenever I activate the capture folder, it no longer shows other folders. Same issue on Capture Live as well which makes it less professional. Clients hated this issue so much.
- Add more details and information. The histogram does not show RGB, the file name can not be seen if the background is pure white, and more.
- Add sort options: Just like Capture Live, it does not have sort options which is impossible to find images base on ratings, colors, name, and more.
- Fix bugs: The app itself crashes a lot because you did not update it regularly.

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One? Workarounds requires a lot of investment and yet bulky. Capture Pilot is the only solution. |

Quick comment on this just to set expectations: we are currently working on a replacement for Capture Pilot.
It will not cover all existing features of Pilot in its first release, and it will mean a deprecation of what is currently known as Pilot (so essentially, we will be killing it, but also replacing it).
