Currently in one mask one can only use one gradient. It is not possible e.g. to combine a gradient at the bottom and one at the top in one mask. This should be possible.
Same for radial gradients. Multiple of those should be possible in one mask.
In addition there should also be a combination of radial and linear masks possible.
To enhance this eve further, it would be great to have a choice to either add or subtract the new dran gradient from the current mask.
Combined with this, there should also be a change in the use of a brush. Having to rasterize a gradient before refining it with a brush or eraser is not very convinient. Lightroom shows how it can be implemented better.
These changes will make C1s already good masking much better, flexible and convinient.

Future consideration
capture one has gone from the best to the worst... between this and the Hasselblad debacle, Lightroom is now winning with features, HDR, etc, it's gotten a lot better over the years and c1 has gotten worse, I'm still using the old interface and bought a copy, won't be upgrading or subscribing unless they add updates like this!
I'm currently switching to Lightroom for this feature alone, I understand the technical issues behind developing it but this is really a game changer and I'm disappointed the Capture One team is not working on it.
This is the most wanted and very very important feature as part of Layers and Masking framework. I was confident that certainly this feature could be part of C1 pipeline and to be released after Subject Selection Tool. I find it very unfortunate and disappointed with C1 decision not to go with this feature. Unlike LR, C1 has excellent Layers mechanism and not difficult to extend Masking framework to have multiple Parametric and Rasterized masks in same layer with Add/Delete/Intersect options. On top of it, having Luma (existing) and Color Range (need) would form a powerful and deadly framework. Since newer machines are powerful and capable of handling the computation very well, implementation is not an issue. I think C1 primarily concentrating primarily around People and Product photography in mind to decide on upcoming tools and features. I have been seeing past couple of years more efforts are going into collaborative nature features, Live and Mobile devices.
Definitely it may not be Technical limitation - if not, soon C1 will struggle a lot to catch up LR and other tools in this area.
If you then add to it the ability to apply masks to styles. That would be powerful.
Use Case: Darken the skies and raise the shadows the person (subject).
Approach: Select the sky, subtract the subject, apply style that reduces brightness in the skies. Select a subject and apply a style that raises shadows but reduces blacks. Apply overall style
Or something like that.
Current approach: Select a hero image matching some of the series' images. Set that to Smart Adjustment Reference, select similar images, and apply the smart adjustment. Make a selection of each sky, hopefully using the magic brush, refine the mask, and apply a style to reduce brightness. Select the subject, hopefully with the smart brush, but probably not, refine the mask, and apply the style. Repeat for groups of images that work with the Smart Adjustment. Select All images apply style.

Yep, this would have saved me literally days worth of work and improved my results in processing about 500 landscape photos from recent mountain trips. It may be time to switch to LR.
I'm a bit surprised that this is not under development. Isn't this what is happening with masking in Lightroom? It is a great feature that works well with the planned subject selection features for Capture One. There would be great scenarios where I would want a gradient mask but be able to subtract the subject.
Summary: Combining masks in Lightroom is an excellent feature and is needed in Capture One.
This would be a highly useful request. Being forced to rasterize a parametric mask (gradient, oval, etc...) and THEN you can ONLY use brushes with it after that is hugely handicapping. And LR has really shown us how this should be implemented with the ability to add, remove or intersect a new mask element with the existing mask elements. This is a place where C1 used to have the lead with layers and masks, but has now fallen behind.

This does not mean this is a bad suggestion or that it will never be adressed, but in an effort of transparency we want you to know that we are not currently allocating resources to solving this issue.
We will revisit the status of this thread if and when it changes.
Jens, I voted for your request, as this woiuld be extremely helpful. Especially because you cannot copy layers incl. their tools' settings.
For me this is the holy grail of workflow. As powerful as V.22 is at the moment, the one feature that Lightroom has added that is game changing is the ability to add or subtract masking on the same layer (Boolean like). Right now the one thing that is closest to that is the radial/linear gradient tool + Luma. I suspect that if this feature is added at some point, Capture One will gain insane popularity as Lightroom will no longer have monopoly on this game changing workflow. My two cents.
Yes, multiple parametric masks in single layer will be an awesome feature which has been asked many times... We'll see what will CO do ?
