It should be possible to cull after fixing exposure and applying a style for instance. It is easier to choose a keeper if you see a version closer to the end result. I would apply auto exposure and a style to all images before culling.
This is definetely useful! Think of multiple portrait photos, eventually shot with different poses, exposition, distance, ecc. With edits, you make them all similar, for example cropping, adjusting exposure, WB, applying styles, etc. It would be extremely useful being able to cull looking at the final edits rather than the original shots, so to easily see and keep the few best ones.
