Use AI to analyse an image and generate a graduated depth mask to allow effects to be applied in a smooth way according to the caluclated depth that items appear in the image.

Current workaround
I can use subject and background (actually I create a BG layer, copy the subject mask and invert it) to get some separation but it can be somewhat digital unless VERY subtle adjustments are made - with a graduated/greyscale mask the changes in contrast or structure could bfall off more naturally. |
downscaled simple examples
In architectural photography, it's essential to be able to edit areas that are closer to or further away from the camera: foreground, midground, and background. However, objects in the room—such as tables and plants—must also be recognized. Currently, I use a workaround by exporting a grayscale mask as a PNG file in Photoshop using the "Depth Blur" neural filter. Then, I generate a mask from this PNG in Capture One, which I then copy onto the actual image.
I would love to see this but the problem is that event, portrait and wedding photographers wouldn't need it so it will never be implemented, unfortunately.
