How to make Capture one not create settings folders?

I'm using Capture one to export psd to jpeg. But every time I click on a folder in capture one Library, a settings-folder is created, which can be seen in finder etc., without me making any changes to the files in Capture one. This is very annoying in this work flow.

I have to go to bridge or finder and remove this folder. Which is ok if it's just one time, but this feature generates a lot of new settings-folders. So it becomes very time consuming.

I'm trying to find a deactivator for this in Capture one settings without any luck.

Does anyone have the same problem? Or knows a workaround for this problem?

It sounds like you're using Capture One in a manner for which it is not designed.  Whether importing photos into a catalog or (what it sounds like you may be doing), using sessions, Capture One creates a bunch of data about the photos you are using (previews, parametric edits for RAW files, etc...) so that you can efficiently interact with these images and their edits.  This is necessary for the main purposes for which Capture One was designed.

Capture One isn't designed for use in a "hit and run" sort of fashion where you operate on some images and are done and it leaves no trace.  So if you want that trace to be gone, you'll just have to clean it up after you're done.

I don't know exactly what your overall workflow is here, but there may be more appropriate tools that are designed to just run some batch operation on your files and be done.  Or, if you like the result you get from Capture One, you can just clean up it's caches and other data when you're done.

Do you mean the CaptureOne folder that gets created? That folder contains settings AND previews / thumbnails (in the Cache subfolder). It is creating previews so it creates the CaptureOne folder in which to store them.

One session and then selecting folders I want to export.

And I understand that they need to have the settings local to the folder you work in. But I'm just selecting the images through Library, and hitting export, so I am wondering what settings they need to save locally for that..?

Thats a great suggestion, I will try that and see! 🙏

Session or catalog? Sessions are by default localized, which means that doing work in any location implies creating a set of internal files required for operation of Capture One, like settings or previews for files in this location. Catalogs are supposed to be self-contained in contrary, so maybe that's the way to go?

Another resolution could be a session, where you don't search for source folders explicitly, but instead you hardlink images in question to its Capture folder, work, unlink. Original locations are unaffected.

I don't think any changes would come from your "request", as it is more of a question, so can you please move it to an appropriate section?
