In the case of of viewing raw data values, make sure that the black level isn't being automatically subtracted i.e. the actual sensor vales are shown unmodified.
Currently there is an inexpensive program called FastRawViewer that includes a RAW histogram feature, a really valuable feature that shows whether your image is clipped etc. It's a natural feature for Capture One. The current histogram sometimes shows an image as clipped when there is actually data in the highlights.

RAW Histograms would be a wonderful feature and quite helpful.
Displaying the Raw histogram could be a very distinctive CO feature.
I would LOVE a raw histogram. There's a lot of great insight in this data.
