Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
What problem do you see this solving?
For each photography trip, In create a hierarchy of user collections/smart folders so to help me review and filter my pictures.
For each trip, I have to manually create this structure.
A method for duplicating an existing structure within a collection would be really useful to me.
An 'Duplicate' entry in the context menu at each user collection would be great. Alternatively save as a template that can be reused within an existing collection would also work for me.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
Last week! I am out at a new location once or twice a month and create this hierarchy for each trip.

Current workaround
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One? Manual creation of the user collection hierarchy. |
Heck, evem just being able to copy a smart album from one project into another would be a big help, but we can't do that either. Or better still (but still not to much of a complex feature) is allowing a project to be duplicated from the right click menu.
Capture One Team — Are any of these options achievable and likely to be considered as a small update?
Came here to ask for this very thing!
I make heavy use of projects within catalogs and having to create the smart album structure inside each time is a real pain.
It feels like a feature that is almost already there, just not quite wired up… I can create a project template with the structurew I need, there is just no way to deploy this template for a new project inside an existing catalog!
Just to explain how I use catalogs and projects, if that helps:
I have one catalog per year, and then each shoot, trip, body of work becomes a project with in it. And I have albums and smart albums within each keeping things organised. These structures are things I keep long term.
This also means I can have other smart albums doing work across all projects catalog wide; and having one catalog per year keeps things easier for a file management, storage, archive and backup POV.
Brian Jordan - I keep them in place long term. The colour tag becomes less relevant once I start editing and assigning star ratings.
My workflow is
I run a catalog per year with the intention of producing a book with my 5* photos for the whole year.
I can see that a user collection can be saved as a template that can be used for creating a NEW catalog.
I need to be able to add a user collection hierarchy to my existing catalog. Happy to do this through catalog templates if it is possible on a current catalog but I cannot see how.
373568222858 Do you keep these structures long-term or are they more short-lived?
