Duplicate user collection structure

What problem do you see this solving?

For each photography trip, In create a hierarchy of user collections/smart folders so to help me review and filter my pictures.

For each trip, I have to manually create this structure.

A method for duplicating an existing structure within a collection would be really useful to me.

An 'Duplicate' entry in the context menu at each user collection would be great. Alternatively save as a template that can be reused within an existing collection would also work for me.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

Last week! I am out at a new location once or twice a month and create this hierarchy for each trip.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

Manual creation of the user collection hierarchy.

Brian Jordan - I keep them in place long term. The colour tag becomes less relevant once I start editing and assigning star ratings.

    My workflow is

    • Quick review of the photos, assign Red, Yellow or Green
    • Closer look at the greens, assign 1* to the ones I think are worth editing
    • As I edit, I will increase the rating as I manage to develop a photo into something worth keeping

I run a catalog per year with the intention of producing a book with my 5* photos for the whole year.

I can see that a user collection can be saved as a template that can be used for creating a NEW catalog.

I need to be able to add a user collection hierarchy to my existing catalog. Happy to do this through catalog templates if it is possible on a current catalog but I cannot see how.

373568222858 Do you keep these structures long-term or are they more short-lived?

384369668478 – Take a look at Session Templates and Catalog Templates. That might address your needs.
