Feature request - add multiple folders in the Library>Folders tool

What problem do you see this solving?

At present it is only possible to add one folder at a time into the Library Folders section - it would be fantastic to be able to select multiple folders from one location.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

More or less every time I use C1. I add my folders so I can see where they reside on my disks.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

Currently I have to add each folder manually. My workflow is to import to a folder in my Pictures folder (eg Pictures/2023/2023-05-29). These folders are reference in C1. It would be good to be able to import multiple folders at any one time, or even a Folder and Subfolders (eg Pictures/2023/all dated subfolders.

The solution is already implemented, however, not necessarily obvious at first hand. Multiple folders, including sub-folders and files will be added to a specific folder when the 'Syncronize...' option is used.

In other words, add your 'main' folder to the Capture One catalogue. Then go into macOS Finder and put all the folders, sub-folders and files you need in that 'main' folder. Go back to Capture One, right-click on your 'main' folder and click 'Syncronize...'.

Set the following options only in the Syncronize dialog window:

    • Include subfolders
    • Import new images

Optionally you can also set the 'Show importer' or 'Remove missing images' option, however, leave the 'Only include previously added subfolders', due to obvious reasons, unchecked.

I hope this serves as a solution to you. It did for me. 🙂

    Catalogue.

I tried the Import dialog now. As long as there is a photo inside the folder / sub-folder C1 will add it and let me chooses the photos. So far, so good. The empty folders are not added to the 'index' of the catalog (Library - Folders) though.

I usually import every file inside the catalog via the import dialog. Then, I start sorting out (creating folders within the macOS file structure through C1). I operate within one folder, where all files are stored following a specific order. I do this process to save time, as I do not want to have to browser at every time through the entire folder tree when importing different projects at a time.

An 'Add Folders...' option when right-clicking on a folder in the Library --> Folders dialog would render our lives easier; and is probably not hard to implement I dare to guess. ;)

    Catalogue or Session?

Are you skipping the Import process (in either Catalog or Session mode)?

I can only support this feature request. It slowls down and hinders my workflow also on a daily basis.

What problem do you see this solving?
No option to add multiple folders and subfolders, including the content.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
Almost everytime I work with C1.

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
I have to add every folder one by one and sync the photos. It is a slow and inefficient way.

Are you happy to be contacted further about this suggestion or request?
    Yes!
