Keystone tool: Independent horizontal and vertical adjustment points

What problem do you see this solving?

Capture One's keystone correction tool uses four adjustment points in all three modes, Keystone Vertical, Keystone Horizontal and Keystone. In the latter, horizontal and vertical adjustment points are locked together in a four-sided figure. With some corrections this isn't a problem, but in most cases this makes precise adjustments difficult as it prevents you from making full use of the lines available in the photo you're adjusting.

It would be very useful if the vertical and horizontal adjustment points could be unlocked so that you would have four vertical and four horizontal adjustment points, i.e. four lines that you could place independently of each other. As you probably know, this is how it works in Lightroom, and it's much more flexible and easy to use than the four interlocked adjustment points available in Capture One.

I'll attach a screenshot of adjustment points placed in the same photo in Capture One and Lightroom, respectively. As you can see, in Lightroom it is possible to make use of the full extent of the available lines to place the adjustment points at the greatest distance from each other, whereas in Capture One it's only possible to make use of a small part of the image, which, of course, results in limited precision.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

I'm affected by this very often when using the keystone tool to make vertical and horizontal adjustments.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

I'm not aware of any workarounds other than spending a lot of time getting the positions of the adjustment points right. (The fact that adjustment point positions aren't saved when you close Capture One only makes this problem worse – see this request.)

I love C1 but agree that the way this works in Lightroom/ACR is much better. Getting it right in C1 can take a lot of work

    Hi Thomas,
Thank you for the suggestion - this is not something we are currently working on.

This does not mean this is a bad suggestion or that it will never be adressed, but in an effort of transparency we want you to know that we are not currently allocating resources to solving this issue.

We will revisit the status of this thread if and when it changes.
