Serval missing features compared to Lightroom Mobile

After using the trial version of Capture One Mobile for the iPhone I am very disappointed with the features, especially since it cost an additional 5 dollars a month. When I compare the editing tools to Lightroom mobile it is just not nearly as good. The only good part is that you can shoot tethered. You can not turn the phone landscape and edit in landscape. Really??? wow okay. You can not mask anything with layers. You do not have color editing tools. You do not have healing tool. You do not have the gradient tool. All these plus more are in Lightroom mobile for the iPhone. This is absolutely a pitiful attempt and a huge money grab! Considering how long this has been out I just can NOT recommend this tool to anyone, unless they are obsessed with shooting tethered. You guys need to really step up your game!

382987704118 I think Capture One Mobile is almost there.  Sure, tethering is fine for those that use it.  But if you want to steal people away from Adobe, you need to get a full set of editing features.  With as powerful a tool as iPads have become, not everybody wants to take a laptop everywhere.  I recently went on a landscape photography workshop and was able to do everything I need to do in Lightroom on iPad.  With Adobe, you can pay $10 or $20/month (depending on your amount of cloud storage) and get everything on both platforms, full editing capabilities, even Photoshop!

What Capture One Mobile needs to be competitive:

    • Adjust Tool: add Levels adjustment and Tone Curves
    • Color Tool: add Color balance, and Color editor needs a lightness adjustment
    • Masking/layers is a must!
    • Shape Tool: Lens correction (if it's there, I couldn't find this on Mobile)
    • Refine: Purple fringing adjustment, Film grain type selection (these two I don't think are super important, at least to me)

And lastly, a way to work on images in either desktop or mobile.  Right now we can import into Mobile, and then transfer to Desktop.  That is great!  Sometimes, when we are mobile we may want to come back to some images.  Sometimes we want to sit on the couch or lay in bed with an iPad.  Can't do that if the image(s) has already been sent to Desktop.  It would be great if we could have the ability to sync an album or folder between Desktop and Mobile and work on either.  Even if it has some limits like, one album at a time with the current max of 1000 images.

Hello 374107945837, thanks for the feedback. Can you share a few words about the way you use the iPhone app when you tether? what is the need for you to shoot tethered and control the camera by your phone? what is your primary type of photography?

As I wrote above, we will be brining editing improvements to mobile, but I don't have an exact timeframe to share at the moment. I can share thought that we are working on tethering improvements that include the shutter button for iPhone, Live view and camera controls that will be available in a couple of months tops.

As for the price, it depends on how important is tethering for someone at the moment. If you take into account editing only, yes, the options it provides are the bare minimum at the moment. If you are paying for Capture One Pro, why don't you switch to All in One subscription? This is the best value for money deal if you are using all Capture One Products.

I agree. When I am out on location I would love to be able to edit in landscape mode since it would maximize screen usage when shooting landscapes. Also we need masking and layer tools to be able to edit. This would be great so I don’t have to carry a laptop with me on an airplane. I can most of my work done before I get home on my iPhone Max. I also need a shutter button for the iPhone so I don’t have to use shutter delay or a cable when I’m shooting a long exposure. I honestly think the app is insanely bare minimum, especially for the asking price. Right now it should be free. Look at all you get for 10.99 with Adobe. Right now I’d rather just use a card reader and Lightroom mobile since it can do so much more. If you think about it capture one is the same price a year as photoshop, Lightroom, Lightroom mobile, bridge, and some cloud storage. I’m so sorry but I’m just being real with you guys. I love to shoot tethered but we need more features to warrant an extra cost. I think this app should be free if I pay for capture one pro yearly, which I do.

Hello 381278403617, thanks for the feedback. It's true that so far editing has not been our first priority for Capture One on mobile, because as you said, there are several apps out there that provide pretty good editing options like Lightroom and others. We provided the bare minimum in terms of editing and we have chosen to focus more on facilitating the photoshoot with tethering and collaboration with Capture One Live. We are quite happy with the results so far, having people all over the world using Capture One on iPad and iPhone when they shoot. That doesn't mean that we won't step up our game on editing: we have planned some big improvements for the months to come but that doesn't mean that we will catch up with Capture One on desktop or other mobile apps on editing any time soon, we have a lot of ground to cover. We will focus on the most important editing tools for our customers, so I highly recommend to share what is important for you, why and what is the alternative you use today. We are here to share our app together, so all your input counts :) Are the tools you mention above the one that matter most to you? and if so why? what are you using today to edit?

    Looking forward to your response.
