Levels and Curves in Capture One Mobile App

Which device are you using?i

iPhone 11 / iPad

What problem do you see this solving?

I would say Levels and Curves to make luminosity adjustments are pretty basic and present in most iOS apps. I am really surprised that they have not been released yet and wonder when they will come

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool? All the time and this together with masks let me doubt if I should stay on with Capture One.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals?

We have updated the status of this feature to "In the works" - we don't have a release date to communicate, but we are actively working on this.

Adding another vote here for the levels tool. I use the levels tool all the time on the desktop so it being missing on the mobile version is disappointing. I managed to get around this by using the black and white and contrast tools to maximize the dynamic range of the images. I’m not sure if that's the right approach, but I can't see any other way to ensure my darkest blacks are around 0 and my lightest around 255.

Thank you both 373605796717 and 373119436737. Your feedback is very insightful and we will take it into account. As you said Ronin, there are so many things to improve in the app and prioritisation can be quite challenging. Your input helps me and the team understand better the urgency and impact of the missing features. Thank you

    + 1 for this

I often do my base adjustments to get the picture to where I like it, then if the highlights are still clipping (say I'm shooting backlit into the sun), I will roll off the clipped highlights using levels. It works really well. I shoot fashion and beauty professionally, full-time. Also, some of my style presets have curve adjustments.

Hi Evi, sure. I do all sorts of photography: streets, architecture, travel... I am an ambitious hobby photographer but not doing photography for a living professionally.

At the moment I am still in a deciding phase and would like to stay with Capture One, because so far I really like the Mac version of C1. Especially as non-professional I find the current setup interesting to keep the standalone version and upgrade once and then and just subscribe to iPad and iPhone apps.

When travelling I find it practical to upload, sort and edit straight on iPhone or iPad and not always have my Macbook with me. Actually the Darkroom App, as well as Lightroom both have all functionality I need and I currently go back to them frequently, or even sometimes skip Capture One mobile. I feel Capture One mobile has not reached the potential yet and lacks functionality compared to the other two where I have everything (and Darkroom is below 80 € for a lifetime purchase and a great app with great usability and enormous functionality).  So for masks, levels, curves I switch to those two or wait until I get home to my Macbook.

If Darkroom had a catalogue and a desktop integration this would be a great alternative, but they only have the app so using Darkroom on the go, I often start re-editing in C1 once I come home on my Macbook. For Lightroom the pricing speaks against it for the moment as a non-professional I still think around 120 EUR a year is not an amount I would like to invest annually, even though they have everything in their offer: a well designed mobile app that has all features, 1 TB of cloud storage and a seemless integration and the desktop version is part of the subscritption. So you get a lot for 120 a year.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. Given C1's  pricing model currently I hope you would agree that levels, curves and masks that e.g. Darkroom and many other apps have, would not be too much out of scope for Capture One mobile and I am sure this would elevate its reputation a lot.

Thank you for listening to customer feedback and based on past experiences I hope Capture One continues to be customer focused and extend the offering. Kind regards and have a nice weekend.

Hello 373605796717 and thanks for the feedback! Could you share a bit of context about the type of photography you are into? Additionally, when do you usually edit using our app or with any other apps using iPad and iPhone?
