AI Dust Removal

Hi Everyone,

My name is Eduard. Since a couple of years we are working on a very intense project. We call it simply „The Skylibrary“ - about 50.000 well sorted and edited

Medium Format Skys - shot wit various Medium Format Cameras. Now if anyone knows how much pain ....thousends of man-hours we went through the last 4 years... j

ust to remove dust.

When we learnedabout your AI Dust Removal Beta Version... we thought our prayers to the creative gods was finally received. And first of all ... this looks promising.

Great direction ...

Now at that point we don’t know how we could help to speedup your process but please feel free to get in touch and lets see how we can provide some help.

Skys...the biggest challenge when it comes to Dust Removal...

We are on standby - all the best and please keep going.

Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

Thanks for the clarifications! Would it be possible for you to send a couple of raw files to us to test and use for development purposes? If it's possible, I will write you an email where you can return the files and we can keep in touch.

    Hi Alexander,

now in my personal opinion it is a first step - a great step but at least to what I see not ready to use... its a beta version. The major part of our library is produced with the IQ4 in combination with the XF system/ Schneider lenses and the Cambo WRS 1600/ Rodenstock lenses... and these lenses are precise ... like they don’t forgive... the IQ4 with his amazing sensor... so capture one is the editor to go... now here is the thing... with that equipment there is no getaway... you can literally see everything... and I am not sure if everybody is doing the same thing but we use the healing mask over the dust removal tool because the results are much better...

so in my head is more like...why cant they use the algorithm of the healing mask tool instead of using the dust removal tool? I don’t know if I am right but the dust removal tool cleans practically everything including the visible sensor pattern... while the healing mask copy and paste that area with a replacement from another area... wouldn’t it be better to use that?

sorry to report... we used it quiet a lot in the last several days... about 200 pictures... we couldn’t generate one sky where the dust removal would give us the expected result... it leaves that very sharp (no fade in) spot and it doesn’t match the colors and brightness around the corrected area...I just speak for the skies we are working on...so right now we cant use that feature ... but trust me we would love to use it!!! Soooo much....I hope this help you guys somehow and we would love to offer our practical help to support you guys on your journey.

Please feel free to let us know ... as I mentioned I believe skies are the biggest challenge and the best place to test it.

    All the Best
