Magic brush and eraser, suggested improvement

What problem do you see this solving?

Magic brush and eraser are sometimes a bit too unprecise. Please see below for suggested improvements.

My suggestions:

I find the magic brush and eraser fairly good but in some pictures, when there are similar colours to the object I try to mask in other areas in the pictures, too much is added to the mask. And even with the "sample entire photo" unchecked, areas really far from my intended area becomes masked. I have some ideas on improvements. Please let me know if it's OK to have all of them in the same post, since they all relates to the same tool, or if I should split them up in separate posts.

Area limiter: Would it be possible to add an area limiter to the tool, so that areas far away from the intended area are ignored?

Tolerance slider: I would also find it useful to let the "Tolerance"-slider go even more narrow in what is selected than what it does today when set to '0'. One example is a picture that I spent a lot of time with, trying to tune the settings of the magic brush, where my intended area on the object had RGB-values of (approx 35,33,38), also unintended areas, somewhat close, with values of (approx 24,22,28) got selected. They are clearly different in both colour and brightness and could be differentiated if the "Tolerance" was tighter.

Continuous areas: One more thing that would help would be to improve the masking of continuous areas. In this case it is a back lit bird and there is an edge around the bird that is glowing brighter then my intended area and the non-intended area, but still, the unintended area becomes masked. So if the tool was better in detecting where the continued area stops, the glowing edge would stop the masked area and the background would not be masked.

Thank You

BR, Stefan Winberg

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

Today and many other times when working with masks.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

When the magic brush/eraser fails I have to do it manually which is very time consuming.

YES!!!! I was just about to post a very similar request - an area limiter, color/color range refinement would be very much welcomed - and this could also be added to the background mask tool as part of refinement!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
