I have read that the beta version, once installed, can be deactivated at any time. Catalogs updated to beta will not be able to be opened on the operational C1.
My understanding is that the beta version should be operational so that you can actually test it without losing the work you have done if you deactivate the version. Beta should always be operational until your catalogs or sessions can be imported from a commercial version, so as not to lose the work done.
If I start beta testing and get some final images that I like, I should not lose that work. The only way to test a version well is to work on it.
You will definitely be able to open your beta catalog in the new version when it's officially released :)
Well, I rather meant that the catalogs could be opened in later versions, when they were already operational, and that the beta would remain active until that time, that it would not disappear without notice.
But well, it's just to contribute nothing more.
Thanks!
HI Josep, thanks for the feedback.
This is unfortunately not possible to make our beta version backwards compatible, as we introduce new tools and sometimes changes to our color engine or databases structures. As with all other versions of Capture One, something opened on a more recent version of the software cannot always be read back on an older version of Capture One.
Plus, this is a beta, so we might have some bugs and crashes left. Some of those we cannot find until thousands of people try the software on their own machines. As such, we cannot in good conscience certify that the beta version can be used without any risks to your files and edits.
