Separate Proof Margin color option

What problem do you see this solving?

I frequently edit with a dark border. When enabling Proof Margin I more often than not switch to a white border. Turning off Proof Margin requires more clicks to set the margin back to dark. This is too much clicking.

I would like an option in 'settings' for the margin color when Proof Margin is selected. When it is de-selected, it would go back to the default color.

(there would be two Margin choices- one for default, one for margin enabled)

Thanks Ian, that works- but it's not ideal. It's better than mouse clicks, but it's still keyboard for proof on, color white, .... color dark, proof off.

I guess if the Proof margin button had the pulldown, I could set it to what I want (it would stick between CO restarts) and either click the margin on or off, or use the keyboard. One click gets me two functions.

Keyboard for now, but hope springs eternal!

I think the idea has some merit but as Ian has mentioned there are existing Keyboard Shortcut options that can be used (on my Windows system X turns the margin on or off) and Shift-6 changes the colour to white. One can also turn Proofing on and off with a key  - so CTRL-Shift-6 might be a good choice.

Now while that may be a quicker option than "mouse" clicks (or the equivalent on a touch pad), an option to combine keystrokes in a set may be even more interesting. However, in this case the change of Margin colour is not a toggle since 6 variations are available. So a combination commend would need at least 2 combinations to set a specific command set OR some means of making it into a toggle to return to the previous setting.

I've created some custom keyboard shortcuts for this. Control-Option-W sets the colour to White, Control-Option-D sets it back to Dark, and Option-P toggles the proof margin on or off.

One other way would be a pulldown like the pan or other tools on the proof margin box next to 'Image Layer' above the viewer. One could select the color there for the proof margin, which would stick until changed again. When clicking it off, the margin would default to the color in the preferences.

This should be 'easy' to implement- it's a constant annoyance. Reduce 5 clicks (best case) to two- on and off.
