Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
Tethering cables have been a problem for alot of professionals with drop outs and even the usb port getting loose in the camera bodies. With alot of new cameras now coming out with ethernet port options, like the Canon R5 Mark ii grips, it would be great to have it be possible to connect a faster, cheaper cable to the C1 software.
Current workaround
Currently with the Canon R5 Mark i alof of photographers are using USB A to USB C cables with a USB C converter on the computers end of the cable in order to reduce dropout. Noting this is the preferred process for conecting a camera to the Capture One mobile ap. There is an issue with power supply and tethering on the same cable. Ethernet would nicely work around this issue. |
Just note that even with the recent R5mk2 grip and the R1 offering 2.5gbe it's still half the speed of 5gbps USB and 25% of 10gbps that many cameras and cables offer now.
Yes, you can run longer and cheaper cables with CAT-5/6, but they won't be faster.
